The present study seeks to investigate the process of formation of gender stereotypes. After comparison, based on the theories of: gender schema, Andre Michel's gender stereotypes, gender socialization, social learning, and role theory, a model that expresses the formation of gender stereotypes between women and men has been presented. According to the presented model, our mental structure is the result of the cultural situation of the society in which we are born, and this mental structure is influenced by the culture of the society (values, norms, beliefs, traditions, religious beliefs, etc.), which is proposed as a schema in the theory of gender schema. Schemas, which are an organized set of gender knowledge, are learned by the individual gradually and in the process of socialization based on the cultural and social content of the society and through various institutions (family, school, peer group and mass media). In this regard, the role of the family is very important because individuals within the family learn gender-appropriate characteristics from their parents through social learning mechanisms including reinforcement, imitation and observational learning, and institutionalize them in their minds and act on them when playing their roles. Finally, it can be said that the process of socialization through the family has the greatest impact on the formation of gender stereotypes and their level of acceptance.
